Breaker & Electrical Panel Help in Coeur d'Alene, ID
Breakers that trip again and again, will not reset, hum or feel warm, and panels that are full.
Breaker & panel problems
What usually goes wrong
Breakers trip to keep wires from overheating. A single trip when the space heater, microwave and hair dryer all run together is normal. A breaker that trips repeatedly, will not reset, hums or is warm is not. Reset it once; if it trips again, leave it off and call.
Keep the panel cover on, and do not put in a larger breaker or hold a handle on with tape. Those tricks hide the problem. Panels in older North Idaho homes may be too small for electric heat, a hot tub and a shop, and some newer panels fill up fast once a garage and an EV charger are added.
When you call, say what brand the panel is if it is printed on the door, about how old the house is, and what you might add. Ask whether a repair, a subpanel or a full upgrade fits your plans, and get the estimate in writing.
